Burlington Junction Missouri 1976 Centennial Article

Maryville Daily Forum January 29, 1976

A nice little #History on the town of #BurlingtonJunctionMissouri located in #NodawayCountyMissouri.  This is a small farming community that used to be a hustling and bustling little town on the Burlington Railroad line in Nodaway County Missouri.  Like so many other towns, when the railroad left so did the people, the industry, and the money that came from the railroad, passengers and tourists.

Today the town of Burlington Junction Missouri is a rural farming community with a consolidated school, a small town grocer "Goff Home Grocery", a bank, a bed and breakfast at the old #CarterHome", a gas station on the edge of town, and it is surrounded by corn fields.  The Ohio Cemetery has more people buried in it than are alive in the town these days.  Bur if you get a chance to visit this piece of American history in Northwest Missouri I'd recommend it.  You will hopefully get a chance to meet some small town hospitality and find bits of history located on the sides of the oldest buildings in town.
